One of the blogs I follow is Digital Photography School, and today they had a simple way to enhance contrast with PhotoShop.
So I gave it a try with a picture I had taken on our first trip to Newfoundland. We were up on a barren plateau and out of the fog appeared a very tidy looking one-room cabin by a small lake. I had to stop and take a piture of it, but was always disappointed as it looked so flat.
It’s been a while and memory is not accurate; while I don’t know if the picture is any closer to the reality, the edited one does please me more than the original photo.

Very nice! I saw that article too. Too bad my computer sucks or might have given it a try. As shot for me for a while.

Another good trick for sharpness and contrast is to copy the layer (Ctrl-J), and apply a High Pass filter (filters->other) with a radius of 30 or so. Then soft light the layer and adjust the opacity to suit.

I subscribe to the DPS feed (OhCaptain turned me onto it) and also saw the article. It’s amazing what you can do.
