Just got home from our curriculum night, where we talk to the parents about our courses, what we’re teaching and why.
Most people get what we’re trying to do, to teach girls to be problem solvers, to be competent and confident.
But there’s always one, that wants to keep their mini-me swaddled in bubble wrap, away from the big bad world. I understand the impulse, truly I do, but 1) they are at the WRONG SCHOOL then, and 2) do they really think they’re preparing their daughter for the future by doing that? A future, I might add, that they themselves seem pretty unprepared for.
And to the guy who “under no circumstances” will allow his 13 year old daughter to have a Facebook account – here’s a news flash for you. I’m pretty sure she’s already got one. Now, tell me this….who’s going to show her to use it responsibly, to start her thinking about how to manage her online image?
How can you expect a teenager to make an informed decision, if you give them no information?
Eff it. As it was pointed out to me, they are not *my* kids. How could I possibly know/understand/care/etc?
Sigh. The martini has never tasted so good.

Screw em, help the kid.
With parents like that the only thing that the child will be prepared for in life is to say, “Would you like fries with that?”
You are a difference maker, you mold the future?
How do you see the future?
We all , and especially I believe in you!
Cheers!
