November is NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).
November is also NaKniSweMo (National Sweater Knitting Month) and NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month).
But I’ll bet you didn’t know it was also KaHaAsMo (Kat’s Half-Assed Month, no link available).
Yep, once again I had grand intentions for November, and once again things did not pan out quite as I wanted.
I knew that I would not actually finish the 50,000 word goal of the NaNoWriMo, and set myself a much lower personal goal of 15,000 more words about the trip to the Far North. I actually did hit 15k words written, but alas, only 6k were about motorcycling around the Yukon; the balance was due to some fiction that wanted out of my head.
I did start a sweater in November, well technically re-starting a sweater . I had half knit the sleeves with a viking cable pattern, put them away for the summer (only the insane knit with wool when it’s 90 degrees), and then forgot what I had done when I picked them back up in October. So I frogged it, tackled it again and was feeling pretty on top of things. I had finished the sleeves and the right front when I came to the realization that the knitted gifts I was planning to give for Christmas would not make themselves, or at least not in time.
I did try to post more. You can see how well that worked out.
But while some things were only half-assed accomplished in November, I did learn to read some music and to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the cello. I finished all three of my courses of study, 25-page documents that detail how I am interpreting the required curriculum for the school. To give you an idea of how big a deal it is that I finished, the last time I worked on these documents was in 2007; they are supposed to be done yearly. I met with my writing buddy weekly, starting taking private cello lessons (isn’t he adorable?), learned needle felting, and knitted a toy and 3 ornaments. I tried cooking new dishes, made a personal budget which actually balanced at the end of the month, got enough sleep, and re-read one of my favourite books.
So November was really more like NaLiMyLiMo (National Live My Life Month).

I’d say “score 1 for Kat” in the life department . . . and your cello teacher is adorable. Cougar.
