I started the project because I needed a boost. The last four attempts at starting something new were FAILs: wrong yarn (acrylic blend, what was I thinking), wrong needles, wrong mindset, boring pattern. I was surfing through Ravelry.com and I saw this cute little shawl pattern called citron. I had the yarn in my stash [...]

today I…

… gave the Grade 8′s the freedom to create their own project. They were given a wiki space and links to the Facebook Privacy Policy and Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Their mission is to “decode” it (their term) and reword it so that someone their age could understand it; how they do it is [...]

March Break is for finishing things that have been sitting in the to-do pile for far too long. Like this: It’s this incredible lace weight yarn made of silk and seaweed fibre that is so soft, it feels like a whisper against my skin. I love it.

bear

Made for Joseph, the new human. The bear is currently bigger than he is.

The Turkey Cup

I got home from school yesterday feeling a bit knackered. And although it was not my Thanksgiving, I was most thankful for the unexpected afternoon off. Walked in the door at 2:05, clothes were shed and I was tucked under the covers for a quick nap by 2:06. Somehow the quick nap turned into a [...]
